Hi I’m Danny,

Born and raised in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

I’ve been passionate about the arts for as long as I can remember.

I studied Foundation Art at Winstanley College in Wigan, before going on to study Fine Art at Camberwell College of Arts, in London. Here I found my way to the ceramics department in the basement, and fell in love with the material of clay.

After several years of working various jobs, I decided to go back into education, receiving the most valuable training and life experience on the DCCI Ceramic Skills Course in Thomastown, Co.Kilkenny, Ireland, graduating in December 2020.

I will always have a deep fondness for Ireland, the wildlife, the culture and the people.

I’m currently working from my studio at Wellington Studios in Ancoats, Manchester.

Clay continually fascinates me, and my practice is rooted in this admiration for the material. It is so versatile, and pushing the limits of what you can achieve with it is captivating, if sometimes frustrating. It demands a certain respect, and a whole lot of experience to really understand its particularities. The possibilities of making with clay and glaze chemistry are inexhaustible, so if you spark an interest for ceramics you’ll probably be busy for the rest of your life!

I mostly make wheel thrown ceramics, though I often incorporate other mediums I work in too, such as drawing, printing and painting, as ceramics is quite accommodating to crossing artistic boundaries.
